Welcome to the website of Skegness Silver Band!
Thank you for dropping in on us!
Here, you’ll find an insight into the people and events that make us such a happy and successful band. Although we have recently made a return to the serious business of competing, we remain a fun loving group who enjoy a lot of laughs and approach each and every engagement with enthusiasm. And those are assuredly diverse! You’re as likely to find us paraded around villages on trailers as you are to find us in the bandstand at Tower Gardens. We play to greet the town’s visitors at the railway station, guest at many summer shows and we supply infinite, endless carols across the area at Christmas. That’s in addition to our now traditional ‘Last Night of the Proms’ and ‘Remembrance’ productions at the Embassy Theatre. Look out for our special themed evenings such as ‘Last Night of the Movies’ and ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, whatever the event, we aim to make it one to remember.
We think there’ll be three types of visitor to our site. Band members themselves who have forgotten when and where we’re next playing out, (see Important Notices), those who’d like to come and see the band (please see the Events page) and those who are considering to come and play with the band! (Be brave – contact us or see the Training Band section!) If we’ve missed anything, please let us know, it must be a truly weird and wonderful query!
If we could share with you, just half of what being in a band means to us, then we will have given you a whole new lease of life. Better still, join us and find out for yourself? Our band members are not all life-long musicians – some began playing in later years and some are people returning to music after many years of absence. We have a junior band for absolute beginners; that’s open to everyone, even the not so junior players! And a training band for intermediate players of all ages. Where else will you find music tuition for nothing!
Booking us for your event costs less than you think! Contact details are on the website along with an ‘engagement form’ that allows us sort the practicalities. If you think you’d like to book us, then the more information we have the better. Our Musical Director is second to none in building a programme guaranteed to be an audience pleaser. Give us the theme or thread of your event and we will do all we can to make it a resounding success.
